When purchasing boys ice skates please keep in mind that it is important to purchase a pair of ice skates that properly fit for a couple of reasons. First, it is not safe for the child to skate with a pair of boy’s ice skates that does not fit properly. Boys, like adults, need the ankle support and the general comfort of a good fitting pair of ice skates. Second, purchasing a pair of boys ice skates that are too large, or too small, often make for a miserable skating experience; potentially causing the child to lose interest in ice skating. Also, please note that it is generally worth the money to purchase boys ice skates that are equipped with quality ice skate blades. Otherwise, you will likely have to spend money and/or time sharpening the ice skate blades. Since sharpening ice skate blades requires training and the proper tools, we do not recommend you do it yourself; unless you are trained and skilled to do so. Sharpening your boy’s ice skate blades incorrectly can ruin the blades. Important: When purchasing boys ice skates, keep in mind that the ice skates normally run a half size smaller than the shoe-size they normally wear.
